RNAssist Ltd., is a technology development company based in Cambridge UK specialised in biomolecule stabilisation and microbial inactivation. The range includes genoPHIX™ (for large tissue samples), vivoPHIX™ (for work involving single cell analysis) and virusPHIX™ (for the safe transport and handling of virus samples).
Our lead product virusPHIX™ has been shown to stabilise RNA, DNA and proteins even at temperatures in excess of 60°C for 18 hours or more. It has been used for protecting RNA during ambient temperature transport of mosquitos from East Africa to the UK with temperatures reaching 45°C, bacteria from deep underground caves in the US, bacteria from marine environments in the Molucca Straits and the transport of human cancer samples from France to the US.
With over 260 evaluators, including the CDC, Pasteur Institute, MIT and Universities of Oxford & Cambridge, we have successfully demonstrated that all RNAssist reagents are capable of inactivating the following viruses and bacteria:
Zika – The Pasteur Institute has successfully demonstrated inactivation of the Zika Virus using vivoPHIX™ – read more on our blog here.
Dengue – Complete inactivation of the dengue virus has also been demonstrated by the Pasteur Institute
Vaccinia – Complete inactivation
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus – Complete inactivation
Hepatitis B (duck) – Complete inactivation
Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus – Complete inactivation
Pseudomonas aeruginosa – Total kill observed
Staphylococcus aureus – Total kill observed
Listeria – Total kill observed
Escherichia coli – No growth observed
Saccharomyces cerevisiae – No growth observed
Saccharomyces cerevisia – No growth observed
Candida albicans – average 3.36 log R knock-down
Stool Faecal Sample – Complete inactivation demonstrated
Inactivation tests are currently being performed on SARS-COV-2, following successful stabilisation of the virus RNA with virusPHIX. If you are interested in working with any of our RNAssist reagents for virus inactivation or RNA stabilisation, please contact us at rnassist@rapidlabs.co.uk
