Use and description:
For the cultivation of a variety of fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. A general purpose broth for sterility testing of aerobic microorganisms recommended by the British Pharmacopeia.
Composition per litre:
Peptone……………………………………..10.0 g
Meat extract………………………………10.0 g
Sodium chloride…………………………..5.0 g
Final pH of the ready to use medium: 7.4 ± 0.2
Medium preparation:
Add 25.0 grams of dehydrated culture medium to 1 litre of distilled water. Allow to soak for 10 minutes, swirl to mix then dispense into tubes or bottles and sterilise at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Quality specification:
Dehydrated medium: homogeneous, cream coloured fine powder.
Ready to use medium: amber coloured solution, clear without significant precipitate.

Storage:
Dehydrated medium should be stored between 10 to 25°C. Once opened, place the container in a dark, dry place. The dehydrated medium should not be used if there is any lump or if the colour has changed from the original.
