virusPHIX™ – RNA Stabiliser and virus inactivation reagent
virusPHIX™ is a novel RNA stabiliser and virus inactication reagent to enable safer handling and transport of samples.
virusPHIX™ has been successfully used to inactivate the Dengue Virus, to allow sample handling in a Cat. 3 laboratory to a Cat. 2 environment. virusPHIX™ has also inactivated Influenza A (Cat. 2 virus) for safer transport. (Source – The Pasteur Institute).
Other viruses successfully inactivated by virusPHIX™ include Vaccinia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, Hepatitis B (duck) and Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus. Inactivation testing is currently being performed on SARS-COV2-RNA, and we encourage researchers to get in touch to help take part in our validation trials.
Preliminary data demonstrates that virusPHIX™ completely stabilises SARS-CoV-2 RNA in virus spiked sputum for 33-days at room-temperature and is directly compatible with QIAamp Virus RNA purification and CV E-Gene RT-qPCR. Additionally virusPHIX™ stabilises RNA, DNA and proteins, as one example; 12 month room-temperature liquid stabilisation of 2 strains of HCV in plasma has been achieved with virusPHIX™ as determined by RT-qPCR and shown to be generally equivalent to -80°C storage.
Please contact us at email@example.com if you are interested in using virusPHIX™ for COVID-19 research.
*Every virus tested so far with RNAssist reagents have been inactivated. Inactivation must be tested internally by the end user. Please contact us to review the full list of viruses and bacteria that have been effectively inactivated with RNAssist reagents. Treatment with RNAssist demonstrated a 3 log knockdown in Candida albicans.
For Research Use Only – not to be used in diagnostic procedures. virusPHIX™ is sold with a licence for research but not diagnostic purposes, no liability is accepted if the product(s) is used for search diagnostic purposes where the result is reported to the patient in breach of the Research Use Only licence.
